About Us

We are an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing our City library and community center. 

The Friends Group

  • Maintains an association of persons interested in libraries and the arts
  • Raises funds for equipment and other needs of the Library and Hal Holmes Center
  • Sponsors culturally enriching community programs
  • Generates support for the Library and Hal Holmes Center

Meetings

Please join us. The Friends monthly meeting is on the 3rd Tuesday of every month (except July) at 3:30 p.m. in Hal Holmes. Meetings open to all. 

Book Barn Used Book Sale

The Friends' primary fundraising source to support its mission, the Book Barn houses a collection of used books, CDs, DVDs, and jigsaw puzzles for sale. Items for sale are donated by community members and the library. The price is right, $1 or 50 cents for most!

1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month, in the Hal Holmes Center basement from 10:30-1:30. Check our Facebook page for upcoming sale specials and announcements!

Please Donate

We are currently taking donations, through the front desk at the library. We accept books, DVDs, and CDs that are current and clean, as well as puzzles. We do not accept VHS, textbooks, condensed books, or encyclopedias. For larger donations of one box or more, please call the library director at 509-962-7252. See Donation Guide.

Book Club Tea- APRIL 15, 2024 7PM

Each April the Friends sponsor a book club tea social with a speaker, fine desserts, and teas. The event is held the third Monday in April at the Hal Holmes Community Center from 7-8:30 p.m. This free event is open to all. See what other book clubs are reading: Book Club reading lists
